TORAH BIBLE QURAN, Saudi Arabia (AP) A book on the Quran has been banned in Saudi Arabia for inciting hatred against Muslims.
The Saudi Gazette newspaper says Friday’s edition of the Quran by Saudi author Mohammed Shafik is banned in the kingdom after its publication during Ramadan.
Shafkis book, called “The Islamic Book of the World,” is a translation of the Arabic text into English.
The text has become popular in the Islamic world and among some conservatives, who say it’s anti-Muslim and Islamophobic.
Shavkat, a popular conservative talk-show host in Saudi, has said he is “deeply offended” by the book.
Saudi Arabia’s interior ministry says it has issued warnings to people who might be tempted to read it.
